Welcome everyone, to Reise's "Chop, Cut, and Rebuild" Web blog.
I've been waiting to build my own bug for years, started off on a ahcked up 74 Auto back in 2000, and lost the battle to cancerous rot, after adopting Reise over three years ago, Ive enjoed my time behind a stock wheel, but now have set our sights on bigger things.
It's Reise and my hopes that you'll link back frequently to see the progress, comment on our pictures, and watch the rebuild as it unfolds.
It once was sad to me, "You may not always pay for what you get, but you'll always get what you pay for." So while the work may take the better part of two years, expect to see the metal work complete in about two weeks, (Pictures are coming!) and the tub back from paint in the mid to latter parts of January. With the reassembly phases over the remaining part of the year.
Be sure to check out the "Plans" forum, to see what we've got in store, and support the vendors in the "Thanks to" room.
Reise made it down to Master Weld today, the metal fabricating body shope, located on Clay Pitts road in East Northport, is undertaking the replacement of both Heater channel retainer plates, repairing all foru wheelwells, bumper mounting surfaces, and replacement of the chassis support panel, and the entire frame head. This is no small task, and is very intricate work. When the repairs are complete, the car will be rot and rust free. The rotted out frame head is the real killer here, the diseased sheet metal had seen its day, 10 years ago, and was becoming a safety issue.
